Christine Brewer

Born in Illinois, Christine Brewer started her artistic career at the Opera Theatre in Saint Louis, where she made her debut playing character Ellen Orford in Peter Grimes by Britten.

During her career she has performed with important American and European orchestras such as the Dresdner Staatskapelle, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, and has regularly performed with the most prestigious British orchestras. She has also worked with the most eminent orchestra conductors like Sir Simon Rattle, Kurt Masur, Sir Colin Davis, Sir Roger Norrington, Sir Neville Marriner, James Levine, or Sir Charles Mackerras, amongst many others.

Her operatic career has taken her to the most important halls around the world, such as the Wigmore Hall in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Gewandhaus de Leipzig, Opéra National in París, Konzerthaus in Viena, Metropolitan Opera and Carnegie Hall in Nueva York, etc. She has also appeared in a broad number of tours around America, performing in Washington, Vancouver, Cleveland, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Toronto and San Francisco.

In addition to her participation in the reopening of the Royal Opera House at Covent Garden in London, with Bernard Haitink, she has performed in renowned festivals like the BBC Proms. Her operatic repertoire includes important roles in operas by Mozart, Wagner, Gluck, Beethoven, Britten, Richard Strauss, and many more. As a recitalist, and singer of concertos and oratorios, she has interpeted the most important pieces of the main repertoire, such as the Réquiem by Mozart, Britten and Verdi, the Te Deum by Dvörák, Gurrelieder and Sinfonías by Mahler, etc.

Ms. Brewer has recorded for prestigious labels such as Telarc, Warner Classics, Chandos, EMI or Naxos. Her contribution to Hyperion’s prestigious Schubert series with pianist Graham Johnson was admired by the critics. Her recordings of works by William Bolcon with Leonard Slatkin won a Grammy Award for being the best Classical Album.
