Ruth Ziesak

Ruth Ziesak studied at the Musikhochsule in frankfurt with Elsa Caelti and began her singing career as a member of the Heidelberg Stadttheater. Numerous competion successes, including First Prizes at the Deutscher Musikwettbewerb and the renowned Hertogenbosch Competition, quickly paved the way to an international career.

She has performed in auditoriums and theatres in Milan, Florence, Vienna, Paris, London, Stuttgart or New York, among other many places. She has collaborated with many prestigious orchestras such as the Wiener Philharmoniker, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, MDR Symphony Orchestra, Gewandhausorchester in Leipzig, Staatskapelle in Dresden or the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, among others. Singing under the baton of conductros such as Riccardo Muti, Kent Nagano, Riccardo Chailly, Jukka Pekka Saraste, Ivor Bolton, George Solti or Nikolaus Harnoncourt.

Ruth Ziesak has been invited in in many occasions by the most important Festivals: Salzburg, Lucerna, Vienna, Berlin, Glyndebourne, Zurich, BBC Promas, etc. In her operatic repertoire we can specially highlight the roles of Pamina (Die Zauberföte), Ännchen (Der Freischütz), Marcelline (Fidelio), Ilia (Idomeneo, re di Creta) and Sophie (Werther), as well as many other Operas such as La nozze di Figaro, Hänsel und Gretel, La Clemenza di Tito, etc. Her concert and oratorio repertoire includes pieces from the Baroque period to the twentieth- century music: Buxtehude, Mozart, Haydn, lieder by Liszt, Messiaen, Mendelssohn, etc.

She has recorded for labels such as Decca, Telde, BMG, Naxos or Sony. Her discogrpahy includes Die Zauberflöte with George Solti, Sacred Arias with the Berliner Barock. Compagney and a CD of lieder by Liszt with Gerold Huber, etc.

Ruth Ziesak teaches singing in the Hochschule für Musik in Saarbrücken.
