Detlef Roth

Detlef Roth was born in 1979 in Freudenstadt, Germany. He studied with Georg Jelden in the Musikhochschule in Stuttgart, graduatin in 1993. Among other distinctions, Detlef Roth has won the first prize of the Belvedere Competition in Vienna and the special prize of the Concours des Voix Wagneriennes of Strasbourg,

He has been invited to sing by the most important opera houses, auditoriums and festivals of the world. He has performed in many prestigious stages such as the Concertgebow of Amsterdam, Covent Garden of London, National Opera of Paris, Festival of Bayreuth, Festival of Ludwigsburg, Festival of Salzburg, Newport Music- Festival and in Zurich Stuttgart, New York, Boston, Venice, Berlin, Frankfurt, Utrecht, Lisboa, Madrid, etc.

Among other orchestras he has collaborated with the Berliner Philharmoniker, NDR of Hamburg, Orchestra Sinfonica Naxionale della Rai of Turin or the Concertgebow Orchestra. He has worked under the baton of very important stage directors as Sir John Elito Gardiner, Franz Brüggen, Valery Gergiev, Philippe Herreweghe, Eliahu Inbal, Lorin Maazel, Sir Neville Marriner, Sir Simon Rattle, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Christian Thielemann or Kent Nagano, among many others.

In his operatic repertoire we can include Operas like Fidelio, Die Zauberflöte, Elisir d’Amore, La Bohème, Eugen Onegin, Das Rheingold, Don Giovanni o Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, among others. In the concert and oratorio field, Detlef Roth has sung pieces as Vier ernste Gesänge by Brahms, Pasión según San Mateo y Weihnachts-Oratorium by Bach, Novena Sinfonía by Beethoven, Lieder einess fahrenden Gesellen by Mahler, Carmina Burana, Die erste Walpurgisnacht by Mendelssohn, Doktor Faust by Busoni or Pulcinella by Stravinsky, among many others. 

He has recorded for labels as Deutsche Grammophon, Erato, Arte Nova, Denon, etc.
