Herbert Lippert

The Austrian Herbert Lippert is one of the most renowned tenors of our times. At the beginning of his career he was a soloist at the Wiener Sängerknaben (Vienna Boys Choir). He studied music and pedagogy at the Vienna University, where he graduated with extraordinary results.

He has worked with the most important orchestras and has appeared at the most prestigious opera houses around the world. He has collaborated very closely with the Wiener Philharmoniker these last years, not only in operas but in concerts and in the operetta-segment, where he cooperates with a dedicated team of the orchestra (“Herbert Lippert und seine Philharmonischen Freunde”).

Two genius conductors, Sir Georg Solti and Wolfgang Sawallisch, were the first to promote his voice and many outstanding productions such as: The Creation, Don Giovanni, and Die Meistersinger von Nüremberg, for which he was awarded a Grammy Award.

He later worked with notorious conductors such as Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Franz Welser Moest, Riccardo Muti, Fabio Luisi, Zubin Metha, or Seiji Ozawa. Some of the orchestras he has performed with are the prestigious Concentus Musicus Wien, Bayrischen Radiosymphonieorchester, or the Orchester Maggio Musicale in Florencia. He has performed main Wagner roles in opera halls like the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires.

His operatic repertoire covers the main classic and romantic operas: Mozart (playing the complicated and hardly known role of Mitridate, amongst others), Beethoven, Offenbach, Smetana, Richard Strauss, or Wagner. His oratorio and concerto repertoires has covered, among others, the Missa solemnis by Beethoven, Stabat Mater by Dvörak, the Messiah by Händel, or Das Lied von der Erde by Mahler, as well as other masses by Bruckner, Cherubini, Haydn, Mozart or Schubert.
